Marriage & Divorce

Requirements: two willing hearts, both unmarried, standing together at the wedding NPC. Divorce: costs a MeteorTear — which is handed to the one you leave.

Aurenfall keeps the classic wedding: propose at the Love Stone, your beloved accepts (or not), and your names are bound in each other's character windows.

Getting married

  1. Find the wedding NPC. The Love Stone stands on the Market (the trading map every Conductress can take you to), and the Matchmaker offers the same service in Desert City.
  2. Stand together. You and your beloved must both be near the stone — a proposal doesn't travel far.
  3. Propose. Talk to the stone, choose "Positive! Let me propose." — your cursor changes. Click the one you wish to marry.
  4. They decide. Your beloved sees a confirmation window and freely accepts or refuses. A refused flower wilts; there is no penalty, only heartbreak.
  5. Married! The whole server hears the announcement, fireworks burst over the couple, and from then on your spouse's name shows in your character window (and when players inspect you).

Both partners must be unmarried. Aurenfall does not restrict who may marry whom.

Divorce

Love fades? Starlit on the Market parts what the Love Stone binds:

  • Bring a MeteorTear (the reward of the Meteor Tear quest — a meteor moved to tears by true love).
  • Starlit hands that very tear to your former spouse as compensation — even if they are offline, it will be waiting in their bag.
  • The parting is immediate and cannot be undone. Remarrying later is allowed — with a new tear for each goodbye.

Small print

  • A proposal expires after about half a minute if unanswered.
  • You cannot propose to yourself, to the married, or across half the map.
  • Divorce works even when your spouse is offline.

How our version differs

  • Classic CO restricted marriage to opposite-sex couples; Aurenfall does not restrict who may marry whom.
  • In the original, divorce conjured a brand-new MeteorTear for the abandoned spouse; here the divorcer must bring one (earned through the Meteor Tear quest), and that very tear is passed on — the heartbreak economy stays honest.
